  • Applied MI & Coaching Tools for MUN School of Pharmacy Working Professional Group ~ 13 & 24 September 2020 [via Zoom]

    13th Sep 2020 1:30:pm – 13th Sep 2020 5:30:pm

    Memorial University School of Pharmacy

This introductory, Monarch Motivational Interviewing (MI) session is designed for practicing pharmacists enrolled in the Memorial University of Newfoundland's (MUN's) School of Pharmacy PharmD program.  The workshop provides a meaningful overview of MI using the Monarch System’s unique approach. Our method integrates MI with other impactful behaviour change practices such as coaching methods and key elements of behaviour change theories/applications. Most importantly, we will explore and help professionals to acquire applied techniques to use with your patients/clients in day-to-day practices. You will learn how to build motivation and transition that enhanced motivation into a strengthened and real commitment to client/patient changed behaviours. We will teach you different ways to use such elements as presence, competence views, compelling questions, reflective listening, change talk, and tagging values onto desired behaviour changes, moving with apparent-resistance in service of your clients’ needs for long-term goal setting and commitment to change. Monarch's work with MUN PharmD program is an ongoing partnership now in its 3rd year; our collaboration reflects the School's learning objective to provide pharmacists with advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills to enhance patient care. Given the uncertainty of COVID times, the ongoing need for social-physical distancing, and Memorial University's decision to do virtual classes in the Fall of 2020, the workshop will be conducted virtually via the Zoom platform. Further, to enhance learning, the workshop will be in 2 parts: A) Sunday 13 September 1:30-5:30 NL time; and B) Thursday 24 September 7:00-9:30 NL time. The workshop is restricted to practicing pharmacists enrolled in the MUN Pharm D program. For more information about that program, please contact Dr Tiffany Lee, Program Development Lead, PharmD for Working Professionals, School of Pharmacy, Memorial University of Newfoundland, 300 Prince Phillip Drive, HSC T 709-864 8980 Email: tfahey@mun.ca For more information about our Monarch workshops and presentations, please visit our website at www.monarchsystem.com
